Summary[edit]

Description
English: Brick turretted tower, corner - bastion of fort over water, cannon at embrasures

Believe it or not, I was surprised when [/photos/zoebowyer/ ZMB] identified this as Shane's Castle, especially after the photo purporting to be Shane's Castle on Thursday last. You live and learn.

By the way, Zoe got within a few minuets, so very well done.

Shane's Castle is a ruined castle near Randalstown in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The castle is on the north-east shores of Lough Neagh. Built in 1345 by a member of the O'Neill dynasty, it was originally called Eden-duff-carrick.Shane MacBrien O'Neill changed the name to Shane's Castle in 1722.

In more recent times the castle grounds have been used as set locations in Game of Thrones.
