le, et en continuantvers le Treurenberg, se trouvait la vieille enceinte qui servait de mur de clôture au Parc: cétait une muraille de85 centimètres dépaisseur, flanquée de tours de 18 pieds de diamètre et occupant la place où les jardins de la rue Royaletouchent aux maisons de la rue dIsabelle. De lautre côté de la muraille sétendait le jardin des Arbalétriers de la grandegilde appelée le Grand Serment : il commençait à lhospice Terarken et finissait vers le n° 38 de la rue dIsabelle; cette ruenexistait pas ; il ny avait quune ruelle partant de la rue Terarken et conduisant à quelques masures adossées au rempart. Cest sur cet emplacement quil avait été plusieurs fois question de percer une rue allant de la chapelle du Palais àSainte-Gudule. Ce projet, mis en avant en i56g, fut repris par les archiducs Albert et Isabelle au commencement duxvir siècle. 11 faisait partie dun plan général de travaux exécutés spécialement dans la partie du Parc qui se trouvait au
