Description
English: Bust in white marble of the Spanish zoologist, explorer and writer Marcos Jiménez de la Espada, made in 1928 by the sculptor Lorenzo Coullaut Valera and located on the Paseo de Alfonso XIII of the Spanish city of Cartagena (Region of Murcia).
The sculpture remained disappeared for more than 80 years, when it passed in 1935 to the property of the City Council of Cartagena and was waiting to be installed in the public space. However, the Spanish Civil War prevented this project, and since then it was stored in municipal dependencies until 2016, when the historian Diego Ortiz Martínez identified the work.
Español: Busto en mármol blanco del zoólogo, explorador y escritor español Marcos Jiménez de la Espada, realizado en 1928 por el escultor Lorenzo Coullaut Valera y situado en el Paseo de Alfonso XIII de la ciudad española de Cartagena (Región de Murcia).
La escultura permaneció desaparecida durante más de 80 años, cuando pasó en 1935 a propiedad del Ayuntamiento de Cartagena y quedó a la espera de ser instalada en el espacio público. Sin embargo, la guerra civil española impidió este proyecto, y desde entonces fue almacenado en dependencias municipales hasta 2016, cuando el historiador Diego Ortiz Martínez identificó la obra.
