Description

Ko Kona He Roa has a petroglyph engraved on its chest representing an old European three-masted ship with square sails.

Researchers have suggested the islanders at one time considered the European visitors as messengers of the afterlife, arriving and disappearing in the ocean like the migratory birds, to which they worshiped.

Rapa Nui National Park, the moai factory. The moai were carved and then taken to the ahu (ceremonial platforms) all over the island, to honour the memory of the ancestors.

The southern slope of the volcano is amazing to see with dozens of stone heads sticking out of the ground.
