Lots were casl bj tinchurch officials while prayer was beingoffered, and the result of the lot wasannounced. Tho - fortunes were thus determined were permitted a brieftime for consultation, and if the) de-sired they could dissent from the choicemade by lot. It is stated, however, thatbut few7 refused to abide by the resultof the lot, and furthermore that therewere very few unhappy marriages.They had unqualified confidence in thelot as revealing Gods will, and theirhigh ideals of the marriage relationdoubtless contributed to this happy re-sult. After the wedding, which was an in-teresting ceremony, the community as-sisted the newly wedded pair to build asmall house, advancing them somemoney. Children remained at homeuntil a certain age, when they wentto live in the Sisters House or theBrethrens House.

OLD GRAVEYARD, BKTHLKHEM, PA. THE CHURCH REVIEW. The cheerful, hopeful piety of theMoravian people is manifest in theirburial customs. When a member ol the church dies, itis announced by the tender strains ofthe trombone choir from the belfry ofthe church. While the funeral serviceis being held in the church, the bodyof the deceased lies in the CorpseHouse at the rear of the church. Afteithe service, the coffin is placed on a bierand covered with a white cloth, as it isborne to the cemetery. At the gravea beautiful responsive service, partici-pated in by the minister and the people,and with trombone accompaniment, isrendered. Amid the tall trees of thegraveyard and surrounded by thegraves of the departed, it is said to bea very beautiful and impressive service.The Moravians have unbounded confi-dence in the resurrection of the dead,and on Easter morning the people areawakened before daybreak by the Eas-ter choral on the trombone played inthe belfry, and, after an early matinservice, t
