Summary[edit]
DescriptionCiron River France seen from the bridge of "la Trave" 2016 FL 02.JPG |
English: The Ciron seen from the bridge of the Trave on the road D 222, just downstream of the hydroelectric dam of the Trave. This bridge is located north-east of the center of the town of Préchac (Gironde, France). Here the water has a "tea color", due to humic acids provided by the watershed after a rainy period. It can be more opaque or clearer depending on season and weather events of the previous days or weeks. The bottom of the river is stony, with sandy deposits. Downstream from this point several kilometers of the river are constantly almost completely under a canopy (wilderness), in a "gallery forest", and sometimes in grooves. These conditions maintain cooler water and a significantly cooler microclimate than the regional average. |
