Contemporary drawing of the coat of ams of w:Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey (died 1547), for which he was attainted and beheaded. 'Howard Earle of Surry, for which he was attainted'. His offence was to use the attributed arms of Edward the Confessor (5th quarter), as used by King Richard II, also not to difference the royal arms in the second quarter, for Thomas of Brotherton, 1st Earl of Norfolk.
