Summary[edit]

Description
English: Comma (Polygonia c-album) Named for the distinctive white comma mark on the underside of the hindwing, the Comma is the only British butterfly with really jagged edges to its wings. From the mid 19th century to about 1910 it had declined to become one of Britain's rarest butterflies, but then a gradual recovery took place. It is now locally common in all English counties south of a line from Liverpool to The Wash. Occasional sightings may be made further north.
