English: Title: Confederate soldier identified as Jonathan Sweet of Meridian, Mississippi, with pistol and Bowie knife. Notation in case: "Jonathan Sweet, Meridian, Miss." Note: Searches of American Civil War Research Database and Ancestry.com on Jan. 12, 2015 were unable to find a Jonathan Sweet of Mississippi. Possible identifications found in American Civil War Research Database or at National Archives: Private John H. Sweet of Co. C, 9th Tennessee Infantry Regiment; Private J.M. Sweeton of Co. H, 34th Mississippi Infantry Regiment; Private John Swett of Co. E, 3rd Mississippi Cavalry Regiment; or Private John A. Sweatt of Co. G, 4th Confederate States Infantry Regiment, who also served in the 42nd Tennessee Infantry Regiment as John Sweat. Abstract/medium: 1 photograph : ambrotype ; plate 83 x 69 mm (sixth plate format), case 94 x 81 mm.
