Summary

Description

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Coutances, Manche, Basse-Normandie, France

English: Fourth panel (of five in total, counting from bottom to top) of the left light of the stained glass window in the 218th bay (south window of the south transept), created in the late 15th century, depicting confessors and martyrs at the Last Judgment. Some restoration works were executed 1916 by stained glass artists of Tournel in Paris under the direction of the architect Gabriel Malençon (1849–1930). Tournel introduced border patterns which were subsequently replaced by an extension of the architectural design by Michel Petit in 1996. See p. 128, 138 in Martine Callias Bey and Véronique David: Les vitraux de Basse-Normandie, ISBN 2-84706-240-8.
