Deutsch: Die seit dem frühen 16. Jahrhundert nachweisbaren Stadtsiegel von Fridingen zeigen den (von Silber und Rot) geteilten Schild der Grafen von Hohenberg. Diese hatten die Stadt im 14. Jahrhundert gegründet, bereits 1381 aber an Österreich verkauft. Um im Siegel die allein farbig gegeneinander abgegrenzten Schildhälften deutlicher zu machen, wurde das untere Feld damasziert. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde der geteilte Schild in den Siegeln zu einem Wappen mit Schildhaupt verunstaltet, was 1938 zur Festlegung des Stadtwappens mit rotem Schildhaupt und einem von Rot und Silber gerauteten Feld führte. 1963 griff man auf das hohenbergische Wappen zurück, beließ es aber zur Unterscheidung von den Wappen anderer ehemals hohenbergischer Städte bei den aus der Damaszierung entwickelten Rauten. Wappen und Flagge wurden am 19. Juni 1963 vom Innenministerium verliehen. |
