Object history
Deutsch: Lirstal gehörte bis 1545 zur Grafschaft Virneburg. Im Jahre 1545 ging diese Grafschaft in den Besitz der Grafen von Manderscheid-Schleiden über. Deshalb zeigt das Gemeindwappen im oberen Schildteil die Virneburger Rauten. Lirstal besaß eine alte Kapelle, die auf einer Anhöhe seitlich des Ortes stand. Sie ist 1825 niedergebrannt. Patron dieser alten Kapelle und des Orts ist St. Martinius gewesen. Sein Attribut, das Schwert, steht im unteren Schildteil.
