Deutsch: Der blaue Wellenbalken, der den Wappenschild schräglinks teilt, steht für die vielen Bäche, die die Gemarkung Scheid durchfließen. Mit Hinweis auf den Ortsnamen "Scheid" wurde eine Fichte im vorderen Wappenteil aufgenommen.

Ortsnamensforscher führen "Scheid" als einzelnes Wort oder in Verbindung mit einer Baumart auf das urkeltische Wort "keiton" = Wald, Holz zurück. Der Baum steht für den Ortsnamen aber auch für die bedeutsame Waldwirtschaft in der Gemeinde.

Patron der Kapelle und des Ortes ist der Heilige Cornelius, der auch als Patron der Bauern und des Rindviehs gilt. Sein Name bedeutet: "stark wie ein Horn". Deshalb wurde das Hifthorn als Symbol ausgewählt. Im 19. Jahrhundert gab es in der Gemeinde eine kleine Schafherde, die sogenannten "Corneliusschafe", die der Unterhaltung der Kapelle diente. Dass sich die Scheider Cornelius als Ortspatron erwählten, weist auf die jahrhundertelange - auch heute noch vorherrschende - landwirtschaftliche Struktur des Ortes hin.
