Object history
Deutsch: Seit 1930 führte die Gemeinde das Wappen der Herren von Wehingen: In Blau ein silberner Zickzackbalken. Um die Wappengleichheit mit der Gemeinde Tieringen (heute Ortsteil von Meßstetten) zu beseitigen, fügte man auf Empfehlung der Archivdirektion Stuttgart 1961 dem Wappen als Beizeichen den Adlerflügel aus der Helmzier des Adelswappens hinzu. In früheren Bürgermeisterstempeln war das Familienwappen derer von Wehingen mit Oberwappen abgebildet. Am 29. August 1967 verlieh das Innenministerium der Gemeinde das Recht zur Führung einer Flagge in den angegebenen Farben. Die Herren von Wehingen sind seit 1215 nachzuweisen. Im 16. Jahrhundert starb die Familie aus. Ihre Burg, von der nur noch geringe Reste erhalten sind, verkauften sie 1315 an Österreich und besaßen sie zu Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts für kurze Zeit ein letztes Mal als österreichisches Lehen.
