Description

This lighthouse was built in 1912 (station established 1907), it has been inactive for many years. 14.5 m (48 ft) square concrete tower on a square pyramidal concrete base; square wooden lantern. Lighthouse painted white. It replaced a 19.5 m (64 ft) square skeletal tower with lantern and gallery that served for only five years on a nearby pier. The only lighthouse in the downtown area of Montréal, this light seemed endangered for many years. However, it was repainted, in 2007, and it appears now to be in good condition. Located on the west side of 'Île Sainte-Hélène in Montréal harbour.
