Notes
  • Significance: This stone tower was built on the plantation of Captain Huff, who died in 1861. From the form of the tower, evidence in the stonework construction, and from the exposed siting of the tower it seems evident that it was once a windmill. In the late nineteenth century it was converted to an observation tower probably for the Four Seasons Hotel, completed in 1892. The mill remnant is now located on the grounds of Lincoln Memorial University founded in 1897.
  • Unprocessed Field note material exists for this structure: FN-49
