Nederlands: De Noordam brengt de eerste Marshallgoederen; Bioscoopjournaals waarin Nederlandse onderwerpen van een bepaalde week worden gepresenteerd.; Het schip "Noordam" van de Holland-Amerikalijn brengt, in het kader van het Marshall-plan, de eerste hulpgoederen uit Amerika de haven van Rotterdam binnen. Aan boord bevindt zich tarwe, stukgoed, soya-olie, landbouwmachines, staal en auto's. SHOTS: - met vuurwerk wordt het schip 's nachts (drie uur in de ochtend), verwelkomd in de haven van Hoek van Holland; - in de ochtendschemering stoomt het schip de haven van Rotterdam binnen en meert af; - de Nederlandse zwemster Nel van Vliet stormt de loopplank af en wordt op de kade begroet; - havenarbeiders beginnen het schip mbv hijskranen te lossen; - de Amerikaanse ambassadeur, dr. H. Baruch (sik en wandelstok), komt, met echtgenote(?) en gezelschap, over de kade aanlopen en begeeft zich naar de Philadelphia-loods van de HAL; - int. loods: een groot gezelschap luistert naar sprekers, oa minister van Buitenlandse Zaken, mr. C.G.W.H. baron van Boetzelaer van Oosterhout, de minister van Economische zaken, dr. J.R.M. van den Brink, en dr. Baruch; - de kapitein van het schip, Koster, overhandigt aan de minister van Landbouw, Visserij en Voedselvoorziening, ir. S.L. Mansholt, symbolisch een klein zakje tarwe; - Baruch, Mansholt en gezelschap lopen over de kade weg; - een elevator zuigt tarwe uit het ruim van de Noordam en stort het in het ruim van kleinere binnenvaartschepen.
English: The Noordam delivers the first Marshall goods; Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.; The ship "Noordam" of the Holland-America Line delivers, as part of the Marshall-plan, the first relief goods from America to the harbour of Rotterdam. On board there's wheat, general cargo, soy bean oil, agricultural machines, steel and cars. SHOTS: - with fireworks the ship is welcomed at night (3 AM) in the harbour of Hoek van Holland; - at dusk the ship steams into the harbour of Rotterdam and moors; - the Dutch swimmer Nel van Vliet runs of the gangplank and is greeted at the dock; - dockworkers start to discharge the ship with the help of shears; - the American ambassador, dr. H. Baruch (goatee and cane), arrives, with wife(?) and company, on the docks and makes his way to the Philadelphia pilot of the Holland-America Line; - int. pilot: a large crowd listens to speakers, a.o. the minister of Foreign Affairs, mr. C.G.W.H. baron van Boetzelaer van Oosterhout, the minister of Economic Affairs, dr. J.R.M. van den Brink, and dr. Baruch; - the captain of the ship, Koster, presents the minister of Agriculture, Fishing and Food Supplies, ir. S.L. Mansholt, symbolically with a small bag of wheat; - Baruch, Mansholt and company depart via the dock; - an elevator sucks wheat from the hold of the Noordam and dumps it in the hold of the smaller inland vessels. |
