Gelijk uit de figuur blijkt, zijn 1, 2 en 3 respectievelijk gelijk aan 7, 6 en 5, maar de verbeeldings-kracht der weefster schiet hier te kort, om t bij t binden zonder de strengen 5, 6 en 7 te doen,wat haar misschien mogelijk zou zijn bij het werken naar een bepaald patroon.Het pilitota gaat echter geheel uit het hoofd. Gelijk hierboven gezegd, maakt men bij hetpilitota meestal gebruik van ingevoerde, roode, oranje en groene garens, waarop volgens debovenomschreven wijze de figuren worden uitgespaard en waaraan een donkere fond-kleurgegeven wordt, door onderdompeling in aniline verfstof. Elke geïkatte inslagdraad op eenGorontaleeschen doek vertoont dus slechts twee tinten. Het voor de tweede maal ikatten vandezelfde garens wordt niet toegepast.
