Nederlands: Vanavond is er een speciale uitzending van De Wereld Draait Door. Een uitzending die gaat over de stand van Nederland.
Het idee is ontstaan door het boek New York Boek (oktober, 2017) van illustrator Joost Swarte. Een verzameling van de tekeningen die hij sinds 1996 maakte voor het tijdschrift The New Yorker. In dit boek staat een tekening die gebruikt werd bij een artikel getiteld The Dutch Model van journalist Jane Kramer. Het artikel gaat over de stand van Nederland in 2006, vier jaar na de moord op Pim Fortuyn en twee jaar na de moord op Theo van Gogh. De New Yorker ging op zoek naar antwoorden op de vraag: Hoe kon het ooit zo tolerante Nederland veranderen in een multi-cultureel drama? Joost maakte daarbij een tekening. En die tekening is het uitgangspunt van vanavond. Een gesprek over de stand van Nederland nu, 11 jaar later, met tekenaar Joost Swarte, Ozcan Akyol, Barbara Baarsma, Bas Heijne, Sywert van Lienden, tafelheer Paul Witteman en huisdichter Nico Dijkshoorn. |
