Description
Deutsch: Denkmalgeschütztes Demeterhaus (Straßenseite), Lindenstraße 8/Ecke Kirchstraße, in Bad Saarow im Landkreis Oder-Spree in Brandenburg. Das repräsentative Gebäude, das über einen Saal verfügt, wurde 1924 nach Plänen von Max Werner als Wohn- und Bürohaus für Angestellte der Landhauskolonie gebaut. 1939 ersteigerte Prinzessin Franziska von Lippe (geb. Gräfin Schönborn-Buchheim) das Haus und überließ es der anthroposophischen Demeterbewegung, die bereits zuvor in dem Haus mit Büroräumen und einem Kindergarten vertreten war. 1941 wurde der Demeterverband von den Nazis aufgelöst und das Haus beschlagnahmt. Nach dem Krieg wurde es erst als Wohnhaus, dann von der Gemeinde- und schließlich von der Amtsverwaltung, unter anderem als Standesamt und Polizeistelle, genutzt. Die Gemeinde, die auch nach der Wende Eigentümerin blieb, verkaufte es 2004 an private Investoren. Nach aufwändigen Sanierungen dient das Demeterhaus vorwiegend als Tagungsstätte.
English: Listed Demeterhaus (street side) in Bad Saarow, Lindenstraße 8, District Oder-Spree, Brandenburg, Germany. The house was built 1924 according to plans by the architect Max Werner. It is named after the Demeter associaton, which used the house in the 1930s. Today it is used mainly as conference center.
