Description

Der kryogene Windkanal Köln (KKK) ist ein kontinuierlich arbeitender Windkanal mit einer geschlossenen Messstrecke. Im Gegensatz zu konventionellen Windkanälen bietet der KKK die Möglichkeit, die im Windkanalkreislauf befindliche warme Umgebungsluft durch eine reine Stickstoffatmosphäre zu ersetzen, die bis auf eine Temperatur von minus 173 Grad Celsius abgekühlt werden kann.

The Cryogenic wind tunnel is a closed circuit, continuous, low-speed wind tunnel with a closed wall test section. Unlike conventional wind tunnels, the cryogenic wind tunnel can be cooled down with liquid nitrogen to temperatures as low as -173 degrees Celsius.
