BREEDERS AND GROWERS 27 Length of fruit inches OHIO MR 17 b.s 6 A new mosaic-tolerant pickling variety developed at the Ohio Experiment Station from crosses involving Chinese Long, Early Russian and National Association. Fruits closely resemble those of National Association, but are a little darker and longer. Highly, though not fully, resistant to mosaic, making good crops possible where mosaic is prevalent. PACKER, b.s 6 Bred at our Pacific Coast breeding station to provide a pickling cucumber of National Association type but blockier in shape and more uniformly dark green in color. High yielding and gives a very attractive pack. PRODUCER, w.s 5% Vine exceptionally prolific; fruits of National Association type but lighter in color. SNOW'S PERFECTION PICKLING, b.s sy2 Early, prolific, and rightly popular. Fruits deep green, and dis- tinctly square ended, uniform, and attractive. STAYS GREEN (Black Diamond), w.s 7 Fruits symmetrical, nearly square ended; very dark green. A dual purpose variety extensively grown in the South for both pickling and slicing. YORKSTATE, b.s 6 Developed by H. M. Munger of Cornell University from the same parentage as Ohio MR 17. Fairly resistant to mosaic, not immune. Vine vigorous and prolific; fruits of National Asso- ciation type, but somewhat longer and more pointed at blossom end. £&Sgf»~ .
