Description
Deutsch: Bekleidungsindustrie II. Der Festzug der Stadt Wien, auch Makartfestzug genannt, fand anlässlich der Feier der Silberhochzeit von Franz Joseph I. und Elisabeth statt. Die Feierlichkeiten begannen am 24. April 1879 mit der Einweihung und Eröffnung der Votivkirche. Am 27. April 1879 fand der eigentliche Festzug statt, der seinen Ausgangspunkt im Prater hatte und sich über den ganzen Ring bis zur Augartenbrücke hinzog. Hans Makart hatte die Konzeption des künstlerischen Teils übernommen. Die Pläne für den Festplatz zwischen dem Äußeren Burgtor und den beiden Hofmuseen wurden von Otto Wagner, die Skizzen für alle im Festzug vertreten Gruppen von Hans Makart, die Festwagen und Embleme von Andreas Streit und die Kostüme, Banner und Standarten vom Maler Eduard Stadlin entworfen. Die Tribüne für das Kaiserpaar und die Ehrengäste stand vor dem Äußeren Burgtor. Vor dem Kaiserzelt auf dem Festplatz hielt Bürgermeister Dr. Julius Newald eine Ansprache, der Männergesangsverein intonierte eine von Josef Weilen verfasste und von Rudolf Weinwurm in Musik gesetzte Kantate. Über 10.000 Teilnehmer defilierten vor über 100.000 Zuschauern. Die hier gezeigten 43 Gewerbe waren mit eigenen Abteilungen vertreten.
