Description
Nederlands: Op de achtergrond van het schilderij is een zeiljacht te zien, varend op het Haarlemmermeer. Aan weerszijden van het gemeenlandshuis zien we een poort waarop een zwaan is afgebeeld. Het huis bood meermaals onderdak aan vorsten uit het Huis van Oranje en van andere aanzienlijke personen. Het kan zijn dat een van die bezoeken op dit schilderij is vastgelegd. Het schilderij was oorspronkelijk bestemd als schoorsteenstuk voor de rode zaal van het gemeenlandshuis in Leiden, dit blijkt uit de bijlage van de rekening uit 1702.
