. SQUIRRELS AND WEASELS. Heads, on which premiums had been paid, of boththe Fox Squirrel and the light-colored form of the(Jray Squiri-el, were sent to our office at Harrisburgfor identification. The heads of the two Squirrelsshown on the plate have been reproduced frommoanted specimens, as the heads which I had of thesetwo species were consumed in the recent fire whichdestroyed my office. J^e reprodnction of normalheads of these two species of Squirrels, which arecommon in the markets, will no doubt serve in thefuture to educate officials who may be called upon toidentify heads and ears which ignorant or dishonestscalp hunters may present for premiums. The headsof the Black Squirrel (Fig. 1), the Flying Squirrel (Fig.12), and the Chipmunk (Fig. 3),—a partial albino—weresent to Prof. S. F. P.aird, Secretary of the SmithsonianInstitution, WasliingtCU, D. C. by county commission-ers or justices of the i)eace in Pennsylvania for identi-fication. The lllack Squirrel was called a Black
