Description |
English: Design for a surtout de table (table centerpiece) whose theme is the ruins of Pompeii. The table’s legs are straight with fluting and a gilded lion mask. The sides of the tables are decorated with rows of moldings, the top being egg-and-dart. At each corner is a high oil lamp in the antique style. The center of the table is stepped. The sides are decorated with figural tablets and swags. Each tablet is topped by a miniature urn, bust, or sculpture.
