Description
Français : Les astronomes utilisant l'instrument MUSE sur le Very Large Telescope de l'ESO au Chili ont mené le sondage spectroscopique le plus profond jamais réalisé. Ils se sont concentrés sur le champ ultra-profond de Hubble, mesurant les distances et les propriétés de 1600 galaxies très faibles dont 72 nouvelles galaxies qui n’avaient jamais été détectées auparavant, même par le télescope spatial Hubble. La richesse exceptionnelle des informations fournies par MUSE donne aux astronomes un aperçu de la formation des étoiles dans l'Univers primordial. Il permet aussi d'étudier les mouvements et autres propriétés des galaxies primordiales. Cette avancée spectaculaire de notre connaissance de l’Univers lointain est rendue possible grâce aux capacités spectroscopiques uniques de MUSE.
