the necessary insulated trolley wire support. Thepoles are set into heavy cast-iron bases, which aresecured to the masonry by expansion bolts throughthe coping and brickwork, Fig. 4. The method of attaching the trolley wire to thesuspended structure is repiesented in Figs. 5 and 6.The wire is No. 00 barddrawn copper. Theinsulators were supplied by the General ElectricCompany. Lightning arresters are located alongthe line and are grounded to the bridge structure. The power plant will consist of two automaticcut-off engines of 40-H. p. each, directly connectedto a 25 kilowatt multipolar generator furnished bythe General Electric Company. The switchboard, which is of marble, will bemounted on an iron frame and will be equippedwith Weston and General Electric instruments. The greatest pains have been taken to make thenew system successful. The best material hasbeen used, and throughout the work has been donein the most thorough manner.
