Summary[edit]
DescriptionEmbankment for disused railway, near Plungar - geograph.org.uk - 66641.jpg |
English: Embankment for disused railway, near Plungar. The land rises steeply from the canal up to the line of the railway, which is in a deep cutting along the line of the trees. (Confusing I know, you'll have to visit to see how the land lies!) All up the left hand side of the footpath the embankment is planted with mixed indigenous trees and bushes. The example pictured here is the spectacular Spindle Tree, so named because its wood was used to make spindles. More info at http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/s/spindl82.html |
