Strange Case Of Poisoning. New Yorker Dead. Companions on Canoeing Trip Seriously Ill. Baltimore, Maryland; October 5, 1906. A singular attack of blood poisoning, contracted in an unknown manner while on a canoeing trip along the Magothy River, in Maryland, resulted in the death today of Harry G. Sanders. a young lawyer associated with Luce & Davis of New York City. Dr. George H. Whipple, first assistant resident pathologist in Johns Hopkins Hospital, and Dr. H. P. Cole, a Hopkins graduate, companions of Sanders on the trip, have been ill with the same disease. Sanders underwent two operations. Dr. Whipple is still confined to the hospital. Dr. Cole was operated upon twice, and was able to accompany the body of Sanders for New York this afternoon. Mr. Sanders was the son of Frank L. Sanders, and was born in Chichester, New Hampshire. In 1900 he was graduated from Yale. Then he completed the law course at New York University. He was 29 years old.

Ex-Coroner Hoeber Dead. An Interesting Figure of the Strong Administration Passes Away, Emil William Hoeber, who was a Coroner. In the administration of Mayor Strong, died at his home, 610 Lexington Avenue, yesterday morning. He leaves a wife and a son, Paul B. Hoeber. Mr. Hoeber was 73 years old. He was born in Germany and studied medicine at Würzburg. He came to this country in 1853, received a medical diploma from the New York University, and began to practice medicine here in 1859. As a Coroner he was one of the interesting figures in the Strong administration. He retired from office in 1898. L. Hoeber was a member of the County Medical Society and of the German Medical Association. Three years ago he was appointed by President Roosevelt a United States pension examining physician. The funeral will be held at his home on Sunday. The body will be cremated at Fresh Pond.
