L CASTRO-URDIALES.—Miliario rom/no 580 SANTANDER Saliendo á la calle de Ardigales^ que rodea por Ocaso lavilla para llevar á la que fué Puerta de San Francisco^ y da pasoá la carretera de Laredo,—y siguiendo hacia el barrio de SanNicolás, en dirección del cauce de Brazomar por la carretera deBilbao, muéstrase ésta lindamente hermoseada por abundosaarboleda y caserío moderno, pues es allí donde va buscandodesahogo y ensanche la Villa, en demanda de sus playas. Fór-mase semicircular Glorieta, y en su eje,— «surcado por las llu-vias, roído por el tiempo», sobre moderno pedestal se alza unfuste de asperón rojo, en cuya superficie, con las extrañas apa-riencias que el tiempo imprime, se distingue restos de una ins-cripción, ya casi ilegible, ó legible con grave dificultad y no me-nor trabajo.
