Description
English: The rou, a wooden bar attached to a rope, could be used to pull down the stockade wall of a fortified Māori pā, especially if it had been undermined. "The rou method of destroying a stockade." Fig. 43 illustration by Ethel Richardson in Elsdon Best's 1927 book The Pa Maori.
