Summary[edit]

Description
English: Explosion du monitor turc Litfi-Dschelil a Braïla ("Explosion of the Turkish monitor Litfi-Dschelil in Brăila"), in one of the first naval encounters of the Russo-Turkish War. The incident took place on the Romanian Danube. Even though the Russian bombardment missed it, the heavily armed Litfi-Dschelil went down in a blaze after maneuvering into an unexploded projectile. Vuillaume places blame on the Turkish crew, all of whom died in the explosion.
