Perennial. Low growing, throwing out many creepingbranches close to the ground. Filled with bitter milky sap. llowering stems1 to 2 feet, erect and simple, almost leafless, bearing at the top a corymbof about a dozen handsome flower-heads nearly an inch across. The fieryorange-red of the flowers is very striking.
