Description

A Fijian raft carrying a family.

The Polynesian Cultural Center has five levels of admission charges. Higher levels come with a dedicated guide in the language of my choice (and the guide would pilot my raft), as well as preferred seating at the dinner luau and the night cultural performance.

The Polynesian Cultural Center showcases a number of different cultures from Polynesia, a large region of Pacific islands that stretch from Hawaii to New Zealand. It is owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is affiliated with the neighboring Brigham Young University–Hawaii. Needless to say, some of the exhibits are more about the spread of Christianity through Polynesia rather than traditional culture. Nevertheless this is an excellent place to get an overview of Polynesia and its major cultures.
