| Description | This is the LaGrange Lock and Dam on the Illinois River near Sections 28 and 32 of Cooperstown Township, Brown County, IL on Apr. 27, 2013. The lower story of the Lock House, which is located on the Brown County side of the Illinois River, is under water and only the top story is visible. The dam (not visible) extends east across the river to the Cass County riverbank. Barge traffic has been halted for the past several days to help prevent the wake from the barge traffic from causing additional damage to already strained levees. USDA photo Randy Tankersley. |
