Dear Debora, I did up a letter to you might before last & sent it yesterday by mail. Caroline had a very good time up to E.G. Lorings but heard no special news. Yesterday morning Maria called here & thought it would be of service for me to go down to West St. & dine. I assented & went in a close carriage; had a rather trying afternoon my cough was so bad. I got your letter in the middle of the afternoon, Caroline calling with them. I went down I had just sent off my letter to you but was not sorry on the whole that I did so, for I dare say Mr. B designs to preach somewhere on his way home. You must send the N.B. petition the next opportunity for it is high time for it to go. I mourned some over your pin, but would not trouble myself about it. I do not wonder that Abby Osgood cannot get along very successfully anywhere, for a person that would sign a petition & then scratch off their name is much too weak to deserve success. I should admire to tell her so. As it is you may give her my love, for I do love her some though my respect for her is wonderfully small. Last evening Maria wrote to Theodore D. Weld to intreat his presence here on the 25. I am hoping to be able to go out by that time. Before I went to bed I took a good quantity of honey & my cough is rather better today. I came from M’s this morning close shut up again. Emma seems to be getter rather better
