| Description |
English: Glenveagh National Park - Castle entrance There is a reception room within the castle where one can sign up to take a guided tour of the castle interior, which is not very costly and most interesting. The castle was built and owned by John Adair, a man who was despised in Ireland and throughout the world for evicting hundreds of tenants on his land from their cottages without any notice. The last owner of the castle was Henry Plumer McIlhenny, an American who bought the castle in 1937 and was well liked. He eventually gave the castle to the Irish people. |
