Goondah to Burrinjuck narrow gauge railway (1907-1910) for construction of the Burrinjuck Dam - 2 foot (610 mm) narrow gauge, 0-4-0, side tank steam locomotive ‘Archie’ built by Krauss in Germany. The locomotive was refurbished in 1920 by Clyde Engineering Co. Ltd in the Sydney suburb of Granville when the photo was taken. The locomotive was used with three other similar locomotives, ‘Dulce’, ‘Robin’ and ‘Jack’ on the Goondah to Burrinjuck narrow gauge railway between 1907 to 1910 for construction of the Burrinjuck Dam. ‘Archie’ was named after the son of C R Cunningham, the surveyor who set out the railway. |
