In deSingel doen we er alles aan om die wens te vervullen. Ook dit seizoen slaat de grote liedspecialist Graham Johnson zijn liedencyclopedie weer open onder de ‘P’ van Poulenc. In chronologische volgorde leidt hij ons rond in Poulencs rijke oeuvre van maar liefst 150 liederen. In deel 2 focust Johnson op de liederen gecomponeerd tussen 1940 en 1963. Johnson kreeg nog les van de grote zanger Pierre Bernac, met wie Poulenc het gros van zijn liederen creëerde. Van hem leerde hij dat Poulencs muziek dient uitgevoerd te worden binnen de grenzen van de klassieke stijl. Vooral niet overdrijven met rubati of andere effecten. Dan wordt het gauw plat en sentimenteel. Bij Poulenc draait alles om de kunst van de suggestie. Français : Poulenc préférait qu'on se souvienne de lui comme compositeur de chansons. À deSingel, nous faisons tout notre possible pour le satisfaire. Cette saison, Graham Johnson, grand spécialiste du lied, ouvre une nouvelle fois son encyclopédie en la matière au « P » de Poulenc. Par ordre chronologique, il nous guide à travers l'œuvre du compositeur, comptant pas moins de 150 chansons. Dans cette seconde partie, Johnson s'intéresse aux chansons écrites entre 1940 et 1963. Johnson a suivi l'enseignement du grand chanteur Pierre Bernac, avec qui Poulenc avait créé la plupart de ses chansons. C'est de lui qu'il a appris que la musique de Poulenc doit être interprétée selon les paramètres du style classique, avant tout sans exagérer les rubati ou autres effets, pour éviter un résultat sans relief et sentimental. Chez Poulenc, l'art de la suggestion prime. interprètes à déterminer English: Poulenc himself wanted to be remembered as a song composer. At deSingel we will do everything we can to fulfil his wish. Also this season, the great song specialist Graham Johnson once again opens his song encyclopaedia, now at the letter ‘P’ for Poulenc. In chronological order, he guides us through Poulenc’s rich oeuvre of 150 songs. In Part 2, Johnson focuses on the songs composed between 1940 and 1963. Johnson also had lessons from the great singer Pierre Bernac, with whom Poulenc created the majority of his songs. From him he learned that Poulenc’s music should be performed within the limits of classical style. Most importantly, do not exaggerate with rubati or other effects. If you do it soon becomes flat and sentimental. With Poulenc it is all about the art of suggestion. |
