Deutsch: Grenzstein zwischen Preußen und dem Herzogtum Sachsen-Meiningen |
| Inscription | Landesgrenzstein zwischen dem Königreich Preußen und dem Herzogtum Sachsen-Meiningen Die Gemarkung Barchfeld östlich von Bad Salzungen gehörte früher als Exklave zur 1866 neu geschaffenen preußischen Provinz Hessen-Nassau. Sie lag innerhalb des Herzogtums Sachsen-Meiningen und grenzte dort u. a. an die meiningische Gemarkung Meimers. An der Sichtfläche des Steins weisen die Initialen “KH” (Kurhessen) auf die hoheitliche Zugehörigkeit vor 1866 hin. Die Landesvermessung von Sachsen-Meiningen wurde im 19. Jahrhundert gemeinsam mit dem Königreich Bayern ausgeführt. Der hier sichtbare unbehauene Fuß des Grenzsteins ist typisch für die damalige Form wichtiger Grenzmarken. Der nach Straßenbaurbeiten beschädigt aufgefundene Stein musste örtlich durch einen neuen ersetzt werden. |
