Description

"Rooster Forest." Historical Landmark No. 19.

According to one historical account, the king of Silla, while on a stroll through this forest, found a golden basket accompanied by a rooster. Inside the basket was a baby boy, who was named Kim Al-ji. Kim's descendants form the Gyeongju Kim clan, one of the largest clans in Korea; this is a story I like to spill to every Gyeongju Kim I come across for a pleasant surprise.

Lovely collection of trees. And a young fashionista walks through the forest - typical of very fashion-forward women of South Korea who often gave me closet envy.
