Title
Half Stone at Pennant
Description
English: A depiction of King Doniert's Stone (Cornish: Menkov Donyerth Ruw), a damaged stone carved in half uncial script reading doniert rogavit pro anima (Latin for "Donyarth asked [presumably for this stone or the nearby crosses or church to be made] for his soul's sake"), believed to reference to Donyarth the last king of the Cornish, from the figures decorating the margins of Moll's map of "Cornwal" (Cornwall), the third in his Set of Fifty New and Correct Maps of England and Wales... This is the second of two depictions of the same stone, apparently misunderstood by Moll to be different engravings at different locations from his presentation of them, based on the differences in his source materials.

Notes: London: Sold by H. Moll over-against Devereux-Court in the Strand; Tho. Bowles, Print and Map-Seller near the Chapter-House in St. Paul's Church-Yard, and J. Bowles Print and Map-Seller over-against Stocks-Market. 1724.
