border, to the north, on the Spanish pro-?vinces of Cuyo, Tucuman, and Buenos Ayrestand reach from the territories of the Moluches onone side, to the Atlantic on the other. The two first-men-tioned tribes are known to the Spaniards by thename of Pampas. They are of a roving disposetion, and repeatedly attack and hamss the Span-ish settlements, as well as the travellers who passfrom Chili to Buenos Ayres, over the plains theyinhabit. They hunt both the wild horses and thehorned cattle for food; ana1 are in general a taljand stout race of men. The Tehuelhets are the nation that is known inEurope by the appellation of Patagons; and aresplit into many subdivisions.
