Description
English: Into Brazil's Jungleland No 1 (1931) (480p 25fps H264-128kbit AAC) Brazil, South America. "Into the land where Col. Fawcett, the British Explorer vanished, the Matto Grosso Expedition penetrated, in search of rare wild creatures. David Newell describes some of the preparations." M/S of David Newell who explains that he has just returned to America after spending an exciting year in the jungles of Brazil. He gives facts and figures about his hunting trip. M/S of hounds being prepared for the hunt on the banks of the Paraguay river. The dogs are dunked into a barrel of liquid which is to kill off fleas and ticks. The hound's "mournful expression" is pointed out. "It's a dog's life" quips Mr Newell. The dog is lifted out . Two local children bring up a tiny puppy who is also dunked in the disinfectant. Then Mr Newell picks up the little boy and pretends that he is going to dunk him in too.

Mr Newell says "This little Indian needs it too, but he has the usual objections." - the kid starts crying! Newell crouches beside a dog and explains that he had to have his ear cut off after a fight with a Jaguar. M/S of a Jaguar in a cage, dogs stand beside the cage barking at the Jaguar. C/Us of the dogs barking at the Jaguar - poor thing, it paces backwards and forwards and bares its teeth. Col Fawcett seems to encourage the dogs to bark, he teases the Jaguars with a stick. End shot is of puppies sitting on a Jaguar skin which is laid out on the ground. Narrator says: "These pups should be great Jaguar hounds someday, for their father is Jake, but what they want just now is Momma." Intertitle reads: "Another instalment in NEXT WEEK'S PATHE PICTORIAL."
