Summary[edit]

Description
English: (1 in a multiple picture album)

You see here why Yellowstone is so singularly fascinating. Here you will see green forests dotted by geyser basins. At Geyser Hill, as in other spots, the multi-colored streams of hot water from the thermal pools and geysers runs into the cold water to the Firehole River.
The name of the river gives one a history lesson. When the explorers and trappers found a valley within the mountains, they called it a hole. Take, for instance, Jackson Hole, WY. Here in this valley they saw a hell of hot water spewing from the ground in clouds of steam. It looked like the hole was on fire, and so the river became Firehole.

When the river enters the geyser area it is very cold. By the time it leaves it could be as warm as 85 degrees.
