Summary[edit]

Description

A Hunt's bumble bee (Bombus huntii) on rubber rabbitbrush (Ericameria nauseosa). As other summer flowers begin to fade, rubber rabbitbrush comes to the rescue for pollinators. It's showy yellow flowers produce pollen and nectar for many pollinators as the late summer fades into fall.

Note the pollen basket or corbicula on the hind leg that is loaded with pollen. It acts as a lunchbox to allow the bee to carry the pollen back to the nest or hive.
