Description

1944 Willys Jeep with after-market cab and tray, probably built by Gillies in Oamaru using war surplus material. To be honest this looks like a homemade job to me - it certainly looks like a Jeep grille, but the rest of it is all out of proportion. Anyone know what it might be based on? I've just checked the museum's website, and it is listed as a '1944 Jeep Farmer's Hack' - so there we go!

Definitely a Willys Jeep chassis, but possibly with a home built cabin. The frame is clearly of wooden construction, as you can see it underneath the paint on the left side of it. It might have spent time in the military, considering the type of vehicle it once would have been. And the fact it's green. Plus the 40's style ammo box on the front. Have you tried Car Jamming the plates Riley? I would imagine it would be labeled as a jeep, but perhaps as a custom built or home-built as a suffix. That's if they are still valid. read this
