Description
English: A regular show in Baluran National Park, when a male Javan Green Peafowl gathers in a lek at early morning to show its train to the female.

Javan Green Peafowl (Pavo muticus muticus) is a race of Green Peafowl endemic to Java Island. This bird used to be widespread across the island, but today can only be found in several locations such as Ujung Kulon National Park, Baluran National Park, Meru Betiri National Park and Alas Purwo National Park.

In the breeding season, the male grew a long rump feathers known as a "train" which can be up to 3 meters length, making it the longest bird in the world. The train will be discarded once the season over.
Bahasa Indonesia: Pertujukan reguler di Taman Nasional Baluran, ketika burung Merak Hijau jantan berkumpul di lek untuk memamerkan bulu ekornya kepada betina.

Merak Hijau Jawa (Pavo muticus muticus) merupakan salah satu ras dari Merak Hijau (P. muticus) yang hanya tersebar di Pulau Jawa. Burung ini dulunya tersebar luas di seluruh pulau, namun saat ini hanya bisa ditemukan di lokasi-lokasi tertentu, seperti Taman Nasional Ujung Kulon, Taman Nasional Baluran, Taman Nasional Meru Betiri dan Taman Nasional Alas Purwo.

Di musim kawin, burung jantan menumbuhkan bulu tunggir (rump) yang memanjang hingga 3 meter, menjadikannya sebagai burung terpanjang di dunia. Bulu ini sering disebut sebagai 'train' alias kereta, dan digunakan untuk menarik perhatian betina. Bulu ini akan luruh ketika musim kawin selesai.
