Summary[edit]

Description
English: A Soviet motor whaleboat approaches a Soviet deep submergence rescue vehicle as both vessels shadow salvage operations for downed Korean Air Lines Flight 007 (KAL 007). The commercial jet was shot down by Soviet aircraft over Sakhalin Island in the Sea of Japan on August 30, 1983. All 269 passengers and crewmen were killed.
